The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the baseless accusations and irresponsible and shameful claims made by the President of the United States concerning Iran, which were delivered on Monday in the Knesset of the Zionist regime and in the presence of genocidal criminals. The United States, as the world’s largest producer of terrorism and the backer of the terrorist and genocidal Zionist regime, has no moral standing to accuse others. The people of Iran, while paying deep respect to Iran’s and the region’s eternal hero, the martyr Hajj Qasem Soleimani ,who played an unparalleled role in confronting the U.S.-produced ISIS ,will never forgive or forget the brutal crime of the United States in assassinating that great man and his companions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that repeating false claims about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program can in no way justify the joint crimes of the U.S. and the Zionist regime in attacking the sacred soil of Iran and in assassinating the brave sons of the Iranian homeland. Taking pride in and admitting to crimes and aggression only increases the burden of responsibility on the United States for committing these acts and reveals the depth of hostility of American policymakers toward the great people of Iran. The complicity and active participation of the United States in the genocide and warmongering carried out by the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine is obvious to all, and the United States must be held accountable for its role in enabling Israeli impunity ,including by preventing any effective action against Israel in the United Nations Security Council and by obstructing international judicial processes to prosecute Israeli criminals. U.S. interventionist policies in the region, support for occupation and the crimes of the genocidal Israeli regime, together with unlimited arms sales to the region, have made the United States the greatest source of instability and insecurity in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs views the U.S. President’s expressed willingness for peace and dialogue as being at odds with the hostile and criminal behaviors of the United States against the Iranian people. How can one claim to seek political negotiations while attacking residential areas and peaceful nuclear facilities of a country, murdering more than a thousand people ,including innocent women and children ,and then claim to desire peace and friendship!? Iranians, drawing on their rich cultural and historical heritage, are people of reason, dialogue, and engagement, and at the same time they act with courage and determination in defense of Iran’s independence, national dignity, and supreme interests.
